About the doctor

I specialize in working with people who suffer from anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. Some seek help because they struggle with a secret sense of disconnection from themselves and others or find themselves repeating unhealthy patterns despite their best efforts to change.

Often, these symptoms and behaviors are trying to tell us about something essential within ourselves that had to be pushed aside in our efforts to get along, or they may reflect traumatic experiences that could not be assimilated. In therapy, we seek to understand what brought these symptoms into being. Only then can we free ourselves to discover alternative pathways that allow us to live more meaningful and genuine lives.

I’m a practicing internal medicine physician, and, in going through my own healing journey, decided, back in 2013, that I wanted to use what was most helpful in my own experience to help those dealing with emotional struggles. To that end, I trained in the tools that have been most helpful to me in understanding my difficulties and allowing me greater freedom to pursue a more meaningful and genuine life.

I have trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy and Bioenergetic Analysis, both powerful avenues to contact the experiences and parts of ourselves that had to be buried or remain unrecognized. Bioenergetic Analysis uses work with the body (via movement and breathing) to bring to the surface emotions and experiences that we disconnected from by disconnecting from our breathing and our sensory experience. Psychodynamic psychotherapy uses, among other things, thoughts and feelings that arise within the psychotherapeutic relationship to bring to life buried thoughts, feelings, and fears that developed in the context of important relationships in our lives.

It would be a privilege to help guide you in this important endeavor. If this type of work feels right for you, please feel free to schedule a consultation session.
