Barbara A Barone, PsyD PA, PhD
I am a highly experienced psychotherapist with over 20 years of success helping adults, children, and families as they navigate life's challenges and ups and downs. The current COVID-19 pandemic brings additional stress and worries to us, and this can feel overwhelming. I can help.
My skill set is helping you develop and use the strengths you already have, but may not be aware of. My therapeutic approach is client-centered and uses cognitive-behavioral principles in a brief, solution-focused model.
Initially trained as an educator, I taught public school in New York City, New Jersey and Florida. I have a bachelor's degree in sociology and a master of education in art education from Rutgers University. I earned a master of social work from Florida International University and a doctorate in clinical psychology from Carlos Albizu University.
I am licensed in Florida as a clinical social worker (2000) and clinical psychologist (2012). My doctoral internship was at a state forensic psychiatric hospital in Florida. I have been in private practice since 2001. Additionally, I have extensive experience in treating depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, and substance abuse treatment. I successfully use motivational interviewing, mindfulness skills training, hypnotherapy for adults, child behavioral therapy, and parent training.
A particular interest in mental health services to first responders and military service members.
