Evaluates hearing sensitivity to determine type, severity and configuration of hearing loss.
Dr. Smittkamp earned both her Doctorate of Audiology and her Doctorate of Philosophy in audiology degrees from the University of Kansas. Her doctoral research focused on the effects of aging and cochlear damage on the auditory brainstem in a preclinical model. Before joining the practice, she was involved in preclinical neuroscience research at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Her research has been published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals. She has advanced training in the most current therapeutic technologies for tinnitus, as well as in advanced hearing aid technology.
She is a member of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA), holds a certificate of clinical competence in audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and is a member of the Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (KSHA).
