Dr. Costello, a native of Grundy Center, Iowa, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from Iowa State University followed by additional post baccalaureate coursework in Pre-Medicine at Wartburg College.
Dr. Costello attended A.T. Still University and received a Masters in Health Care Administration and Masters in Public Health before earning his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. He performed his residency training at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Dr. Costello is a strong advocate of living a healthy lifestyle and has competed in bodybuilding, strongman competitions and the Scottish Highland Games. He is an Eagle Scout and continues to be involved in scouting with his son. Dr. Costello resides in Kirksville with his wife Ashlea, a Kirksville native, their son Michael and their two dogs, Elle and Cookie. He enjoys lifting weights, being outdoors and spending time with his family.
