I believe that fundamentally, we all want to live in the present so we can be at peace. But living in the present is not as simple as it sounds; there are many obstacles that can get in the way. Some examples are anxiety, struggles with depression, being stuck with past trauma, etc. As an experienced psychotherapist, I’ve supported people in overcoming these obstacles so they can live fully in the present and be at peace.
A typical session would start with a quick check-in. Next, we move on to practicing mindfulness exercises designed to increase and enhance coping skills. Towards the end of the session, we integrate the skills so you can overcome distress if they occur, which allows you to live fully in the present. My work is informed by integrative approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), positive psychology, Gestalt, and body-centered psychotherapy. I strive to create an open and safe environment for collaboration and exploration with my clients. My approach is anti-oppressive and I celebrate each individual's expression of identity and cultural differences.
