I spent most of my Medical career at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, San Jose's Trauma Center, and major Teaching Hospital. I held many positions there including CoDirector of ER, Site Coordinator for the Stanford Emergency Medicine Residency Program, ED Education Director, etc., but my "specialty" was teaching and not only did I really enjoy it, but I was really good at it as well.
I also feel very strongly that due to changing societal and economic trends, doctors are under great pressure to maximize the number of patients they see. The result is that patients often leave their physicians office, either feeling that the doctor did not "LISTEN" to their concerns, or did not take the time to explain that they understood what was wrong with them and what to do about it.
I guarantee that after our visit, you will feel HEARD, and our visit will not end until you understand what my diagnosis is and how we are going to treat it.
I spent 16 months during the heart of the Pandemic doing Telehealth by video or phone. Although it was quite a change from seeing patients in person in the ER or Urgent Care, the main advantage was that patients were waiting at home and thus allowed me to spend as much time as I felt was necessary to take great care of my patients.
Also, because I have done both ER and Urgent Care, I will have a strong sense of the urgency of your condition, and the timeframe on which you need to be seen and treated.
There is nothing more frustrating for a patient than to be referred to an Urgent Care, go there, and then sent to the ER, because they could not handle your problem in their Clinic. I can anticipate if you will need a CT scan, emergency blood work etc, and can accurately determine where you should seek follow-up and when.
Also, if you do have to go to the ER, I will call them and let them know your medical condition and my concerns, so they will be expecting you, which will hopefully expedite your care.
I grew up outside of Detroit, have 4 brothers and sisters, and have a strong sense of family. My brothers and I were Eagle Scouts, and I passed along that honor and tradition to my son, currently about to graduate medical school.
I enjoy the natural beauty all around me here in the Bay Area, and never take for granted how fortunate I am to have a job that fulfills me and live in an area of my choosing.
As far as my educational background, I spent the 70's in Ann Arbor, graduating in1975 with a BS with Honors and Distinction, and then staying on to graduate from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1979.
I did my internship in Oakland California, then took a few years years to work and travel in the South Pacific, etc.,. I did my Emergency Medicine Residency in Detroit, finishing there in 1986 and then moving back to the Bay Area.
It will be an honor to help you with your medical concerns.
