Andrea Shepherd is a doctorally-prepared, board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about providing high-quality, evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s unique needs. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia and her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Maryland.
Shepherd began her career as a critical care nurse in the ICU, where she gained invaluable experience managing complex health conditions. As a nurse practitioner, her diverse background spans family medicine, urgent care, internal medicine, telemedicine, and subacute care. She also led the development of a successful lung cancer screening clinic in Washington, DC, specializing in pulmonary oncology, lung cancer screening, tobacco cessation counseling, and pulmonary nodule management.
On the Sesame platform, Shepherd cares for patients ages 18 months and older, offering a wide range of telemedicine services. She treats common and urgent concerns such as urinary tract infections, sore throats, colds and flu, allergies, heartburn, vaginal concerns, STI testing and treatment, sexual health services, and other infections. She also provides specialized care for chronic conditions including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, non-insulin dependent diabetes, weight management, anxiety, depression, and birth control consultations.
