Ezetimibe is a prescription medication used to reduce high cholesterol levels in the blood. It works by blocking the absorption of cholesterol from the intestines, which helps lower LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels and raise HDL ("good") cholesterol levels.
Ezetimibe is typically used to treat high cholesterol and certain other lipids in the blood, such as triglycerides. It can also be used in combination with statins or other medications to treat familial hypercholesterolemia (FH), which is a genetic disorder that causes very high levels of cholesterol in the blood.
