How should finasteride be used?

Finasteride is available in various forms, including:

Oral tablets

The typical starting dose of finasteride for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is 5mg daily, taken orally with or without food. Your healthcare provider may adjust the dosage based on your response to the medication.

For treating male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia), the typical dose of finasteride is 1mg daily, taken orally with or without food. Again, your provider may adjust the dosage as needed.

Take finasteride as directed by your healthcare provider. Swallow the tablets whole with a full glass of water.

Follow your provider's instructions precisely when using finasteride. Do not increase or decrease the dosage without consulting them.

What should I do if I miss a dose of finasteride?

If you miss a dose of finasteride, take it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

What should I do if I'm feeling better while taking finasteride?

Continue taking finasteride as prescribed by your healthcare provider, even if you start feeling better. Abruptly stopping finasteride can lead to the worsening of your condition. Follow your provider's instructions regarding the duration of treatment.

How should I store finasteride?

Store finasteride according to the instructions provided by your healthcare provider or pharmacist. It should be kept at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and light. Ensure the container is tightly closed and keep the medication out of the reach of children.
