Amlodipine is available in the following forms:

• Oral tablet
  
• Oral suspension (liquid)
  
  

The usual starting dose of amlodipine for adults with hypertension or angina is 5 milligrams (mg) once daily. Your healthcare provider may adjust your dose based on your response to the medication.

If you are using liquid amlodipine, shake the medicine bottle well before use.

The recommended dosage of amlodipine may vary depending on the individual's condition and response to treatment. Your healthcare provider will determine the appropriate dosage and administration instructions. Take the medication exactly as prescribed, and inform your doctor if you begin to experience any side effects while taking the medication.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. If it's almost time for another dose of amlodipine, skip the missed dose and take your next dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose of amlodipine.

Continue taking amlodipine as prescribed by your healthcare provider even if you start feeling better. Do not stop taking the medication without consulting your doctor, as abruptly discontinuing amlodipine can lead to an increase in blood pressure or other complications.

Store amlodipine as directed by your healthcare provider or pharmacist. Proper storage is essential to maintain the medication's effectiveness.

Amlodipine pills should be stored at room temperature, away from excessive heat, light, and moisture. Liquid amlodipine should be stored in the refrigerator.

Keep the medication out of the reach of children and ensure that the container is tightly closed.
