Are there any other special instructions I should follow?

Take doxycycline with a full glass of water to prevent irritation of the esophagus.

Avoid lying down for at least 30 minutes after taking the medication to prevent throat irritation and ensure proper absorption.

Do not take doxycycline with dairy products, calcium supplements, antacids, zinc, or iron supplements, as they can interfere with its absorption.

Limit exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet (UV) light while taking doxycycline, as it can increase the risk of sunburn.

Use effective contraception methods while taking doxycycline, as it may reduce the effectiveness of hormonal birth control pills.

What should I do in case of an overdose?

In case of a doxycycline overdose, symptoms may include severe nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and dizziness. If you experience any of these symptoms, call the poison control helpline at 1-800-222-1222. If an individual has collapsed, is having seizures, or is unresponsive, call 9-1-1 immediately.
