What is metformin ER?
Metformin ER is the extended-release version of metformin, a prescription drug used to treat type 2 diabetes. Metformin decreases your body’s blood glucose level and increases its response to the hormone insulin to get your type 2 diabetes under control.

What are the most common side effects of metformin ER?
While adverse reactions to metformin are uncommon, some patients who take the drug may experience mild side effects, including diarrhea, nausea, flatulence, asthenia, indigestion, abdominal discomfort, and headache.

Rare, more serious adverse events have also been known to occur. If you are concerned that metformin may be causing you to experience any number of adverse side effects, contact your doctor or clinician.
