What are the side effects of scopolamine?

Common mild side effects of scopolamine use include:

  • Dry mouth
  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness
  • Blurred vision
  • Constipation
  • Urinary retention (difficulty urinating)
  • Dry skin or flushing at the patch site
  • Dilated pupils (mydriasis)

More severe side effects of scopolamine use can include:
  • Allergic reactions: Such as rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, or throat, difficulty breathing
  • Rapid heartbeat (tachycardia)
  • Confusion or hallucinations
  • Agitation or restlessness
  • Memory problems or disorientation
