Advair is a prescription medication combination used to treat asthma symptoms such as coughing, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. It also treats air flow blockage in patients with certain lung diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. It is generally prescribed for patients struggling to manage their asthma with their current medication or with severe asthma requiring multiple medications.
Advair contains a combination of the drugs fluticasone and salmeterol, also available in generic form. Advair is supplied as an oral inhalant powder and liquid solution to be inhaled by mouth using a special inhaler.
