What is methylprednisolone?
Methylprednisolone (Generic Medrol) is an anti-inflammatory steroid prescription drug used to treat a wide range of conditions, including arthritis, blood disorders, certain cancers, severe allergic reactions, eye conditions, immune system disorders, and diseases of the skin, kidneys, intestines, and lungs.
What are common side effects of methylprednisolone?
While adverse reactions to Methylprednisolone are rare, some patients who take the drug may experience mild side effects including upset stomach, stomach irritation, vomiting, headache, dizziness, insomnia, restlessness, depression, anxiety, acne, increased hair growth, easy bruising, and disrupted menstrual periods.
Rare, more serious side effects have been known to occur, including skin rash, swollen face, lower legs, or ankles, vision problems, long-lasting colds or infections, muscle weakness, osteoporosis, or black or tarry stool. If you are experiencing these symptoms, contact your provider immediately.
