Many people who use clomiphene experience no adverse effects at all. However, there are some side effects that you should be aware of. The most common of these are:
- Flushing (a feeling of warmth)
- Upset stomach or vomiting
- Breast tenderness
- Headache
- Abnormal vaginal bleeding
Talk to your doctor if any of these are severe or do not go away.
While a severe adverse reaction to this medication is uncommon, it can occur. Get immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following:
- Vision problem (such as blurred vision, double vision, or visual spots or flashes)
- Stomach pain or swelling
- Unexplained weight gain
- Shortness of breath
Please note that this is not a complete list of all possible adverse reactions or precautions. Seek medical attention right away if you experience an upset stomach, vomiting, blurred vision, vision impairment, and stomach pain or swelling.
Beause clomiphene can cause blurred vision, do not operate a motorized vehicle or heavy machinery until you know how the medication affects you.
As with all prescription medication, be sure to inform the prescribing doctor about any medical conditions you have been previously diagnosed with and any medication/ supplements you are currently taking before taking clomiphene. Clompiphene can interact with other forms of medication, causing potentially serious side effects. In addition, let your doctor know if you are pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant before starting treatment with this medication.
