Mometasone has been shown to cause some side effects. Talk to your health care provider if these mild reactions do not go away within a few days.
Common side effects of topical mometasone ointment/ cream include:
- Skin dryness
- Burning, itching, or stinging sensations on the skin
- Discolored skin
Common side effects of mometasone nasal spray include:
- Headache
- Change in taste
- Heartburn
- Cough
- Muscle pain
Common side effects of mometasone powder include:
- Change in taste
- Cough
- Throat irritation
- Dry mouth
- Headache
This is not a complete list of adverse reactions caused by mometasone. Call your doctor right away if you experience any form of shortness of breath, skin rash, vision problems, changes in heart rate or blood pressure, severe headaches, or confusion.
As with all prescription medication, be sure to inform the prescribing doctor about any medical conditions you have been previously diagnosed with and any medication/ supplements you are currently taking. Mometasone can interact with other forms of medication, causing potentially serious side effects. In addition, let your doctor know if you are pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant before starting treatment with this medication.
