Sesame named to 2023 NY Digital Health 100 List
Sesame proudly announced its addition to the 2023 NY Digital Health 100 List this morning. The annual list, which is compiled by Digital Health New York (DHNY), celebrates the most exciting and innovative startups in the New York region.
“In 2023, the New York Digital Health 100 includes an incredibly diverse, innovative and forward-thinking set of companies and leaders that are making an impact on the future of healthcare,” said Bunny Ellerin, Co-Founder and CEO, DHNY. “On behalf of the entire New York healthcare ecosystem, we are delighted to spotlight these organizations, support their growth and applaud them for their meaningful contributions to improving healthcare.”
This is a significant achievement for our company that highlights the work of the entire Sesame team and further entrenches our healthcare marketplace as an industry leader in digital health solutions. This milestone also serves as a welcome addition to a series of recent accolades, including a placement on Fierce Healthcare’s Fierce 15 list and a #1 ranking by Healthline for overall care in 2021 and 2022.
Sesame was inspired to reimagine healthcare by three realities:
- There are more than 27 million Americans who have no health insurance — and hundreds of millions more with unmanageable deductibles
- At least 50% of the cost of care doesn’t end up with doctors but is instead absorbed by “the system”
- Half of all Americans have medical debt, and more than half of all personal bankruptcies are caused by it
The new healthcare system we built uses a direct-to-consumer model in which patients and providers can connect directly without the complication of third-party insurance prices or office operating costs. Providers compete to serve patients with up-front transparent pricing, and patients can see provider reviews and availability before booking. Sesame’s model helps patients side-step the cost, confusion and frustration that typically accompany the traditional American healthcare model of long wait times, insurance co-pays and surprise bills.
This recognition highlights our commitment to transforming healthcare technology and emphasizes Sesame's position as a leader in the digital health solutions space. Our deepest thanks to DHNY, our providers and the thousands of patients who believe in our mission of half-priced, whole-quality health care.
