Alprostadil (Caverject Impulse, Edex) is an injectable prostaglandin that is used for erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common condition in which you are unable to achieve and maintain an erection firm enough for sexual activity.
Alprostadil widens blood vessels and increases blood flow to the penis to produce an erection. It is important to note that this medication does not cure ED, nor does it boost sex drive or prevent the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
