Important Update for Sesame Patients Taking Compounded Semaglutide
As a valued patient, we want to make sure you’re informed and supported during an important change in your care.
On February 21, 2025, the FDA declared that semaglutide is no longer in shortage, which means that compounded versions of this medication will soon be unavailable nationwide. If you currently rely on compounded semaglutide as part of your weight loss treatment program, this change will affect your treatment plan.
We understand that this change may feel overwhelming, and we want to make sure you're fully informed and supported as you consider your next steps. You have two options for continuing your weight loss journey without interruption:
Option 1: Switch to another weight loss medication
If compounded semaglutide is no longer available to you, your provider can help you transition to another treatment option. These may include:
- Metformin
- Generic liraglutide
- Zepbound® vials (available only as a self-pay option)
- Other brand-name GLP-1 medications, such as Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound or Mounjaro
Please note that out-of-pocket costs vary based on your insurance coverage. Some of these medications may be more expensive than compounded semaglutide, especially if insurance coverage is limited. Your provider can work with you to find a medication option that aligns with your budget, your individual needs, and your weight loss goals.

Option 2: Pre-order your compounded semaglutide
To help you maintain access to your current treatment, Sesame is offering a limited-time option to pre-order a 3, 6, or 12-month supply of your compounded semaglutide medication. You must complete your pre-order before 12pm ET on Monday, May 19th to secure your supply.
Both the medication and your Success by Sesame subscription must be paid for in advance—either in full or in installments via Affirm®. Please note that all pre-orders are non-refundable per pharmacy policy.
How it works:
- Choose your supply duration – 3, 6 or 12 months

- Your medication will be shipped monthly as usual
- You will have continued access to your provider
