Sesame Announces First “Sesame @ Work” Partners: Ameriplan, Tandem and YouDecide
Free for employers to join, “Sesame @ Work” is a new, employer-centric approach to deliver truly affordable health care to participants at no-cost to the company
NEW YORK, JUNE 11, 2023 – Sesame, the company building a radically new healthcare system for uninsured Americans and those with high-deductible plans, today is announcing early adoption of its Sesame @ Work service, its new employer-centric approach to delivering truly affordable health care to employee participants in high deductible health plans (HDHPs), as well as those working where there is no employer-sponsored managed care.
Early adoption of the service includes:
- Ameriplan, one of America’s leading Discount Medical Plans, has partnered with Sesame in an effort to ensure their 6,000 members receive the highest quality, low cost virtual care for their entire family.
- Tandem, an online platform that connects child care centers with caregivers, is sending their caregivers to Sesame for required virtual health checks.
- YouDecide, an industry leading voluntary benefits platform for Fortune 1000 companies, will offer their clients Sesame to provide employees of all workforce classifications access to high quality, low cost healthcare.
All have partnered with Sesame to provide their employees and members access to Sesame @ Work, which offers partners exclusive additional discounts within Sesame’s existing “half-price health care” marketplace.
Free for employers, and half-the-price for employees
Although more than 10 million more people hold full-time jobs, only half of workers have health insurance provided through their job or a family member’s job. There are nearly 30 million uninsured in the United States, and a record number of people (estimated to be 55%) enrolled in high-deductible health insurance plans; both of these groups generally pay cash to providers in order to underwrite their own healthcare.
Sesame @ Work is a new, employer-focused approach to deliver truly affordable health care to participants, no matter their insurance status. Whether it’s an employer, benefits broker, gig platform or membership association, organizations now can provide Americans access to the lowest price health care in the U.S., at no cost to the company.
Ameriplan, Tandem and YouDecide, are providing access to their members and contract employees as a voluntary benefit for those with employer-sponsored health coverage, or as a healthcare option for those who aren’t provided coverage or are declined coverage through the traditional employer-sponsored insurance market.
Ameriplan, Tandem and YouDecide have also recognized the flexibility Sesame @ Work provides to access Sesame’s wide-ranging services to meet a range of marketplace needs.
“Ameriplan is committed to providing quality, affordable healthcare to those who have been priced out of the healthcare market,” said Dennis Bloom, Chief Executive Officer of Ameriplan. “Giving our members access to fast, inexpensive, but most importantly, high-quality providers, lab services and pharmacy benefits through the easy-to-use Sesame platform was a no-brainer.”
HOW IT WORKS
Employers and insurance providers pay nothing to access Sesame @ Work: never any flat fees, and no Per-Member/Per-Month (PMPM) costs – ever. Employers (or the benefits brokers that represent them) simply engage Sesame to fold the Sesame marketplace into the portfolio of resources offered by the employer. Employees then have access to Sesame for themselves and their entire family. They can seamlessly shop for care and purchase directly on the site.
BENEFITS TO COMPANIES AND THEIR EMPLOYEES
- Always costs $0 for employers to join and participate, and employees received a $10 discount on services
- Employees have access to the Sesame marketplace – from primary care and specialty medicine to in-person and telehealth, for all patients (pediatric, adult and geriatric specialists are all available)
- With Sesame, families can tap into a wide range of care they may not otherwise be able to afford -- from maternal fetal medicine specialists who can be available 24 hours a day for those late night questions, to helping a relative get care when they have long covid, to getting mental health support at the touch of a button
- Employees can apply Sesame expenditures to their annual health insurance deductible.
