Michael Botta, PhD
Michael Botta is the co-founder and President of Sesame Care, where he oversees all sales, partnerships, and clinician relationships. In many ways, everything Michael has done in his career has led to the Sesame moment — building a direct-to-consumer health care marketplace designed to make quality care more affordable, transparent, and accessible for patients across the country.
Before co-founding Sesame, Michael spent five years at McKinsey & Company, where he led multi-million-dollar projects tackling some of health care's biggest challenges: pricing, quality measurement, and catalyzing competition both in the U.S. and abroad to drive better outcomes for patients. His expertise in health policy has taken him well beyond the consulting world — he has advised The White House Office of Management and Budget, the Brookings Institution, and the State of Massachusetts on health reform legislation and implementation.
On the Sesame blog, Michael writes with the perspective of both a policy expert and a builder working inside the system he's trying to change. He has authored and contributed to articles on a wide range of topics, including Amazon's foray into health care, leveraging telemedicine to serve homeless populations, practical advice for saving money on care, and the broader forces reshaping how Americans access and pay for health services.
Michael received his Ph.D. in Health Economics and Policy from Harvard University. You can find him on LinkedIn.
