Pediatric virtual visits on Sesame are video appointments with a licensed doctor or clinician that you can book and attend from home. Just choose a provider, pick a time and upfront price, and pay directly (no insurance—HSA/FSA accepted) to book your visit.

After booking, you'll get a confirmation email and text reminders with a link to join the video call. During the visit, the pediatrician can assess your child via video, diagnose common issues (colds, flu, rashes, allergies, sore throats, minor infections), and send prescriptions to your preferred local pharmacy when appropriate.

Virtual visits aren't suitable for physical exams, vaccinations, or serious illnesses or injuries.

You can find and book vetted online pediatricians (along with other licensed doctors and clinicians) within minutes on Sesame. Simply enter your location and you’ll immediately be able to choose from top-rated providers who are licensed to treat and prescribe in your state. You’ll even be able to see reviews from other patients just like you!

After choosing a provider, just pick an appointment time slot and pay for your video visit upfront, then join your visit at the scheduled time. The provider can assess your child’s symptoms during the call and work with you to develop a pediatric care plan.

Pediatric virtual visits are a good option for mild or common illnesses like the common cold, flu, rashes, allergies, asthma, sore throats, sinus infections, or minor scrapes and bruises. These video appointments allow your child to get the medical care they need at home without sitting in a waiting room.

However, some types of care (such as physical exams, vaccinations, or serious injuries such as deep cuts or head injuries) require an in-person visit to the doctor’s office.

General pediatricians and specialists on Sesame can prescribe a wide range of common medications, including antihistamines, antibiotics, antifungals, steroids, and more.

Please note that prescriptions are always at the discretion of your provider. Providers on Sesame do not prescribe controlled substances, including some types of medication for ADHD.

You can see the age ranges treated by your provider by heading to their provider profile and looking at their listed age groups.

You can help reduce your child's temperature with children’s acetaminophen or ibuprofen to help reduce fever if your child is older than 2 years of age. To avoid a serious condition called Reye syndrome, never give your child aspirin.

If your child (older than 3 months) has a fever of 104°F, talk to a pediatrician or specialist for medical advice. Infants under 3 months with a temperature of 100.4°F or higher require medical attention right away in an in-person setting.

If your child’s fever is accompanied by other symptoms such as a stiff neck, ear pain, sore throat, or severe headache, it may indicate a more serious issue.

No. Sesame does not accept insurance to keep prices low and transparent – the upfront price you see next to your provider’s name is the price you pay!

However, you can pay for your online visit using your Health Savings Account (HSA) card or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) card if you have one.
