What are the side effects of montelukast?
Montelukast is well tolerated by most people, but some do experience side effects.
Common side effects of montelukast include headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, excessive thirst, fatigue, and feelings of agitation or restlessness.
In some cases, montelukast can also cause mood or behavior changes. If you have a history of mental health conditions, let your provider know during your video chat.
Contact your healthcare provider if you notice severe mood changes, persistent stomach discomfort, or signs of an allergic reaction to montelukast (like a rash or hives). If you experience severe allergic symptoms or have persistent difficulty breathing, seek emergency care right away.
